Rainy Days

This week in Chicago has been beautiful! Lots of sunshine and warm weather. A few times last week we had some rain and Olivia wanted to go play in it. While she was walking around in the puddles, I just couldn't stop thinking about what I can do for her. She is having a very hard time adjusting since Will has arrived. About 6 weeks after he was born, Olivia started baby talking, fighting even more with Ben and having tantrums. She's just been hard. She actually told me the other day that she wanted to be a baby again so that she could be a cute as Will. After telling her that she was just as cute, we thought of things that big girls could do that babies can't. Although the list was a good one, I don't think she was convinced.

I'm at my wits end. I'm hoping that some love, patience and time will remedy the situation. Hopefully we will have less days like this....

Last day of school

Ben's last day of Kindergarten

Ben had his last day of school on Thursday. He is so happy for summer to be here and so am I. I have been wanting a little less schedule and a lot more playing time. Thursday night we went out to dinner to celebrate the last day of school and he got to pick the restaurant. We were talking at dinner about all the things he learned this year and what a great teacher he had. That night he was saying his prayers, when he got chocked up. I asked him why he was sad and he burst into tears and said "I'm going to miss kindergarten!" I gave him a big hug and of coarse started crying too. I asked him what he was going to miss the most and he said "Everything!" I think it had all hit him at once that he wasn't going to see Mrs. Spence everyday. We decided to email her the next day because she was definitely going to be missing him. The next day we sent an email to Mrs. Spence. This is what Ben wrote:

Dear Mrs. Spence,

I miss you but I am excited to be a first grader. I love you and I might invite you over for dinner.

Love,

Ben

I emailed Mrs. Spence that night to tell her how Ben was feeling and what an impact she has had on him. She of coarse emailed Ben back the next day. This is what she wrote:

Dear Ben,

I love you too, and if you do invite me over I will come if it all works out on the date. Have a terrific summer---go swimming lots, make sure you keep reading, see your friends, and have a great trip to Georgia.

Thankfully Will slept through the entire picnic so that Olivia and I could spend a little time just us girls.

A name & a blessing

On Sunday June 6th, William Preston Meyer was blessed. Rick gave such a sweet and beautiful blessing. Some of the things in the blessing that stood out to me was:
Will was blessed to be close to his family
That he would have a desire to go to the temple, serve a mission, and marry in the temple
The he would be a man of honor and character

He wore the same outfit that Ben wore to be blessed (Olivia was blessed in the same dress as I was).

His blessing day was also his 2 month birthday. In the last month he become a much better sleeper. He sleeps from 11-4 and some nights even 5am. What a champ!! My favorite thing he has started doing this month is smiling and cooing. Is there anything better than waking up to a baby who is smiling and cooing? I don't think so.
