The week after

The week between Christmas and New Years, I have always loved. The hustle and bustle of Christmas is over and school is out, so there is no real schedule or place to be. To make it even better Grandma & Papa came to visit us and we got to hang out with them all week.

We also got to dog sit for our friends maltipoo named Penny. We all love Penny, but Will especially loves her. He followed her around all day. It made me really want to get a dog. Isn't Penny so cute!!

While my parents were here, I took full advantage of having extra sets of hands around and made new tree skirts for Ben & Olivia's trees in their bedrooms. I think they turned out pretty cute considering I had no pattern and was just wingin it. For Ben's I used some extra burlap I had laying around and used fabrictac to glue jumbo rickrack around the edges.
I had seen a beautiful tree skirt on a decorating blog I look at from Garnett Hill and saw it again in Real Simple magazine and wanted to see if I could make something similar for way cheaper. I knew it would look perfect in a little girls room. I bought 1 yard of cream felt (I didn't use it all) that was on sale for $2.99. I used 1/2 yard for the base of the tree skirt and the other half for all of the flowers.

I enlisted (or forced) my mom to help me. We watched the first season of Glee (which is pretty good) on dvd and hand sewed A LOT of flowers. I love how it turned out and can't wait to break it out next year. And you can't beat the price, 2.99 and some thread!

I was also able to make a skirt, dress and 3 bows for Olivia while my parents were here!
