A Bargain

I'm excited to report that last week, I got all of this Candlewick stuff for 40 dollars on Craig's List!! Thankfully Rick was willing to drive an hour and a half and cross a state line to get them for me.

2 platters, 8 dessert plates and a pedestal bowl thingy.

Catching up

After the big snowstorm, school was canceled for a few days. We stayed in our jammies all day and made cookies...

drank hot chocolate...

watched movies...

and made homemade pretzels

Do you see that? It's grass!!! The last few days have gotten above freezing and some of the massive amounts of snow are melting. I haven't seen grass in a few months and it's wonderful. It made me laugh when I looked out the back door and saw our reindeer food we had left on Christmas Eve for Santa and the reindeer. It had been buried in snow and since the snow finally melted enough you could see it.
There is hope!!

I was invited to a ladies Valentines exchange and I made 15 ruffle dish towels to share.

After almost 12 years of marriage we now have a TV in our bedroom. I was convinced that if we did we would have a bad marriage. So far, we don't have a bad marriage and I can watch TV from the comfort of my own bed. I love it!

We also had a Valentines Progressive Dinner with 4 families from our neighborhood. We all have kids around the same ages and we all live within a few houses from each other. I had the dessert portion so I made red velvet cake for the adults (8), red velvet cupcakes for the kids (9) and peppermint hot chocolate for everyone.

10 Months

Although Will turned 10 months old over a week ago, I'm just getting around to it. I was only a day late taking the picture but who can tell, right?

This month he learned to pull himself up to standing. He also has figured that he can move sideways while still holding on. As you can tell from the following pictures he is very proud of himself.
He really loves standing here because his toys are in this drawer.
My little heart breaker celebrated his first Valentines Day

He is growing up so fast. More than anything else, he loves for me to carry him around. I don't mind, in fact, I love it. It just means almost everything is done one handed.

Happy Valentines Day

Last week was a crazy one in the Meyer household and I have a lot to catch up on but for now we wanted to tell everyone Happy Valentines Day! We love you.

(I made the boys matching t-shirts using freezer paper. The were so easy! )

The Blizzard

It's never good when Al Roker show up in your city. He only shows up when the world is ending. So when he was in Chicago, on the news on Tuesday morning, I knew it was going to be bad. So after a long night of the worst weather I have ever seen, here are the stats.

Stats:
3rd highest snowfall in Chicago ever
21 inches of snow in 24 hrs.
61 mph wind gusts
thundersnow
grapple
lightning
locusts (just kidding!)
Favorite quotes:
Olivia says "Today is a good day to be in Florida."
Ben says "I have freeze bites." He meant frost bite.
The aftermath:

We opened the garage this morning to a wall of snow. It was about to my waist. You can see the backs of the cars.
